EUROPEAN STANDARD QUADGUARD® CEN CRASH CUSHION FAMILY

The QuadGuard CEN System, the next generation of the QuadGuard Family, is designed to protect motorists in vehicles from 900 kg to 1500 kg from roadside hazards as narrow as 610 mm and as wide as 2285 mm. The QuadGuard CEN System, has been tested in Europe as a redirective crash cushion to the maximum 110 km/h using 1317-3 criteria. To fully comply with the definition of a System Type tested crash cushion, the QuadGuard CEN has been further tested at 100 km/h, 80 km/h, and 50 km/h.
The QuadGuard CEN family of crash cushions provides a broad range of impact protection for a variety of hazards and speeds, yet shares a number of common components. All members of the QuadGuard CEN family feature Energy’s exclusive Quad-Beam™ fender panels, which provide 30 percent higher beam strength than conventional thriebeam. The interchangeability of parts in the QuadGuard CEN family significantly reduces stock requirements.

To fully comply with the definition of a system type tested crash cushion, QuadGuard® has been further tested at 100 km/h and 80 km/h.

The QuadGuard™ CEN family of crash cushions is CE Marked and has been certificated by an authorized EU Notified Body.

 

Cost-Effective Performance

The QuadGuard® CEN family of crash cushions provides a broad range of impact protection for a variety of hazards and speeds, yet shares a number of common components. All members of the QuadGuard CEN family feature Energy’s exclusive Quad-Beam fender panels, which provide 30 percent higher beam strength than conventional thrie-beam. The interchangeability of parts in the QuadGuard CEN family significantly reduces stock requirements.

Wide Range

During head-on impacts at speeds up to 110 km/h, QuadGuard® CEN telescopes rearward, crushing the cartridges and effectively dissipating the energy of both light cars (900kg) and large cars(1500kg). During angle impacts at angles up to 15 degrees, vehicles are safely redirected back into the original travel path.

 

Easy Refurbishment of Crash Cushions

After a design impact, QuadGuard® CEN can be quickly and easily refurbished by a two-man team. The majority of the components typically are reusable after a design impact.

 

Wide Range of Vehicles

The revolutionary Space-Frame Diaphragms allow QuadGuard® HS crash cushions to address both 820 kg (1800 lb) cars and high-center-of-gravity 2000 kg (4400 lb) pickup trucks during high-speed impacts. These Space-Frame Diaphragms are used in the first three bays of the system, which do not contain a cartridge.
